Getting started
A valid "G" Drivers License (or equivalent class license from another province), 23+ years of age(customers between 23-24 years of age are still considered as “underage driver” & are expected to pay underage driver fee) & a Valid Credit Card (Visa, Master Card, Amex) is needed to rent a vehicle. You can also pay for the car rental through debit, money order or using a certified cheque upon returning the rental vehicle.
Yes. Most rental companies protect themselves from many possible circumstances by checking the client’s driving records. This is a safety procedure that will avoid high-risk drivers from renting any vehicles. If the client neglects to meet GTA Car Rentals criteria, we have the right to deny the car rental at any point during the rental process.
For most of the cars its $500-800 depending on the length of the rental contract, but for premium and luxury vehicles, it ranges between $1000-2000 depending upon the CDW deductible selected by the customer.
Yes. In the province of Ontario, it is forbidden to drive any car without the appropriate insurance coverage. If your insurance company or credit card already covers for rental insurance, there is no need to buy the ones provided by rental car companies provided you produce proof of that coverage i.e, OPCF 27 coverage on their insurance policy. (Anyhow, GTA Car & Truck Rental Company {GTACTR} does not accept OPCF27 coverage for its Luxury, premium & Moving trucks rentals). If there is not any kind of insurance coverage, you will be required to hire the rental car company’s own insurance.
Insurance policy number and/or claim number (if any) from the customer’s insurance , driver’s license, credit card for pre-authorization are needed to rent a vehicle.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional service offered by car rental companies. The service is offered when the renter does not have insurance, relieving financial responsibility in case the vehicle is stolen or has any damage during the rental period. If the renter decides to decline CDW, he or she will be fully responsible for the vehicle by reimbursing the car rental company for the damages or theft.
LDW is Liability Damage Waiver, its a third party liability coverage in the event of an accident/collision.
